 Hector Kabande was raised in a household where the most important values were family, great food and hospitality. He is he son of the late José Encarnación Kabande Dabdub, the famed hotelier who founded the upscale Hotel Lucerna chain. Beginning with a single hotel in Mexicali in 1966, the company, Grupo Lucerna has added Lucerna Hotels in Tijuana, Juarez, Culiacan and Hermosillo.
The Kabande Family Hospitality Business
Mr. Kabande is a hotel executive and serves as member of the board of directors of Grupo Lucerna. His executive duties include the areas of hotel development and operations for all Lucerna Hotels. Grupo Lucerna is a family business and Hector Kabande’s mother, Maria Teresa C. De Kabande serves as president of the company and sits with him on the board.
Mr. Kabande is married and has six children ranging in age from 13-21. He and his family share their time between Mexico and San Diego California.
 Hector's Recipes
Hector Kabande was born in Mexico and came to the United States to study hotel management. When he returned to Mexico he worked in the restaurant industry, running several restaurants in the Tijuana area before joining the family hotel business. Hector plays and important role developing and operating the upscale restaurants located in the Lucerna Hotels.
It was during his student days that he developed his love for food and cooking. In addition be working in the restaurant and hotel business, Mr. Kabande retains his passion for food and food preparation. Hector has many favorite recipes, but you wont find all of them on his blog. Here’s the reason: Hector is working on a cookbook. It’s called "Kabande es Caliente". The recipes are old and new favorites from the Kabande family.
Hector Kabande’s secret ingredient is Peppers – Hot Peppers. He uses the finest and hottest chilies he can find for his special recipes. Hector’s friends know about his passion and regularly bring him fresh peppers from their home gardens.
